from *.1: None of the workspace callback functions are supported. These require communication between the window manager and the application which was not implemented in v1.2-4. All of the other workspace API routines are supported though. Any idea on when the workspace callback functions will be functional? Customer states that he can see a real need for this type of functionality and would like to see them in the next release of CDE/Motif. Mike Keter

These calls were intentionally omitted because they use ToolTalk messaging to communicate between the window manager and the application. We could use an alternative messaging scheme but it would require a fair amount of new code. Unfortunately, DECwindows has gone into strict maintenance mode. It doesn't sound like any new functionality will be considered. The focus will be on IPMT case handling. Any request like this would have to go through the product manager Vittorio STAR::Mezzano and would require some serious justification. Doug | |||||
