I was planning a trip to Mt Rainier this weekend - given the good weather forecast. Is it "too early" to go there ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is there a web site where one can get directions to rainier and areas to visit ? Mohan

Hope you didn't go! The end of May is unofficial opening of the high hiking season. Before then, you can drive to Paradise but not much of anywhere else in MRNP. Reason: snow snow snow. This year has been particularly bad. The area around Paradise gets approximately 20 FEET of snow over the winter. I've been on the north side (Sunrise) at the end of June and there was still about 6 inches of snow on the ground.

I didn't. People warned me about this. We wanted to see the wild flowers and it turns out that they don't show up till late July. Mohan |
