For a while I have had an Alpha NT box in my office. I "inherited" it when I started to work here. I notice that most references are made to these boxes by their project names (i.e. Miata, Jensen, NoName, etc.) and was hoping that some one might be able to identify what it is that I have. It began life as a DECpc XL 466d2 and then got the PowerGrade233 upgrade. Now the front label reads DECpc XL AXP 233. At one point the processor card died and was replaced by a 266MHz option. I was told that this is not the equivalent of and AlphaXL just in a different case... any ideas would be appreciated. I want to make sure that the firmware is up to date and have no idea which one to download. Thanks, -John

The PowerGrade shares the same firmware as the Avanti family machines i.e. AS 200, AS 250, AS 400, and Alpha XL 2xx. Check http://www.windows.digital.com/support/sysoft.asp for the latest version. Note: Do not attempt to upgrade the firmware using the firmware updates for AS 200, AS 250, AS 400 or Alpha XL on the Powergrade. The firmware update procedure for PowerGrade is different from those platforms and I am not sure if it will work. Scott | |||||

Thanks for the pointer Scott. It appears that V4.49 is the lastest. I am lucky in that the new 266MHz daughter card seems to have this version of the firmware. Any one out there have any idea where I could get info on the DECpc upgraded systems... it would be nice to know a little more about it.... thanks, John | |||||
