Hi,

 It sounds like an weird question but here we go... A customer
just received an ALPHAserver 1000A 5/300 with NT 3.51 
pre-installed. He wants to install 3.5 and would like to know if 
it should work. If yes :
 . Do I have to downgrade the firmware ? I don't think so
   because as far as I know it has backward compatibility. 
 . Is there any HAL for 3.5 avaiable for ALPHASERVER 1000A 5/300
   and do  I have to use it ?

	You might want to check further, but I'd question the support of NT 3.51 on an even a AlphaServer 1000 4/xxx. I can't recall ever seeing it on one of those. As for the 5/300, I'd seriously doubt it is supported on that platform. NT 3.51 fixed ALOT of flakieness with 3.5. Is there THAT burning a desire to run 3.5? Double-check in the WRKSYS::MIKASA notesfile. mike

	Thank's for answering Mike. The customer has many ALPHAS running 3.5 and as strange as it may seem his environment is stable. So he would like to keep his new machine in 3.5 until he can upgrade them all to 4.0. Beside that he has a CDDI board that was a pain in the neck to became stable. I'll check the mikasa's conference..

	NT V3.5 was never tested on the AlphaServer 1000A 5/xxx and is not supported. The minimum supported version is NT V3.51. Scott
