7378.0. "Converting PW users to NT" by ACISS2::DATZMAN (Vee Vont To Pomp You Up) Tue Apr 08 1997 10:40

Has anyone written written scripts to convert PATHWORKS file&print
        shares and users to NT?

Specifically, a customer is looking for
scripts using NET commands on UNIX that can export the PATHWORKS
information and then ingest the data into NT using something like
        ADDUSER.EXE.

        Any help is much appreciated.

this would be best asked (and I believe has been in at least one of
these) in either the NT (not PW-NT) Notesfile or the PW/UNIX notesfile.
    See note 7 for locations.

7378.2SPELNK::curlessSure it's a bug, but did you CLD/QAR it?Thu Apr 10 1997 12:1018
So basically you are asking for:

1) A tool that will read a "PATHWORKS USER" database
2) Use the obtained data to create accounts on an NT system?

Hmm....

How about:

1) Install NT on a machine.
2) Make it a backup domain controller for the domain the unix box is in
3) allow it to sync.
4) promote it to Primary.

Data transfered.

a v5 server can't be a PDC for an NT server.

Dick as i know you may use the MERGE option while running the pwrk$upgrade
procedure from the pathworks server. It will merge accounts from pathworks
    server and the NT machine.

But you should keep in mind that passwords are lost i mean each
pathworks user created on NT will have its own username as password
because the merge procedure is unable to retrieve a password.

For file and print services i don't know how manage it
