7369.0. "local TCP printer & Windows95 & Windows3.x?" by TLAV02::PIPHOB () Wed Mar 19 1997 02:45

    Hello,

    My customer has VMS6.2+PW5.0c+UCX3.x. The Clients side have Windows 3.x
    & Windows 95 and Dot-matrix printer. Can we share the matrix printer
    using LPD?

    Thanks in advance.

    I don't believe that PATHWORKS for DOS and Windows, PATHWORKS for
    Windows 95, nor PATHOWRKS 32 include any LPD SERVER functionality.

    What do you really want to do? Win95 can already share it's printers
    to other PC users and, with PATHWORKS 32, to OpenVMS and DIGITAL UNIX
    users as well.

    Hello,

    So if we want to use local share printer, we have only LAT protocal to
    do it. Is it correct?

    Have any suggestion?

    Thanks for your help.

   No, that's not what I said. What operating system?

    If the client with the printer is running Windows 95, it can share it's
    printer to other PC's via NetBEUI, DECnet, or TCP/IP all by itself. It
    can share it's printer to OpenVMS or DIGITAL UNIX users via either
    DECnet or TCP/IP if PATHWORKS 32 is added.

    If , on the other hand, the client with the printer is running that
    antique DOS thing, then PATHWORKS for DOS and Windows can allow the
    printer to be shared to OpenVMS via LAT, yes, and then PATHWORKS for
    OpenVMS could create a share pointing at that queue.
