7356.0. "Printing with WIN95" by VMSNET::FARLOW_J () Mon Mar 10 1997 10:23
Problem:
Customer intermittently getting errors printing from win95 clients
(several different clients, nothing appears to be hardware related).
The errors are from DEVICE OFFLINE to UNEXPECTED NETWORK ERROR and only
seems to effect printer connections (file share connections fine), a reboot
corrects the problem. It seems to only be the clients with just one
transport; TCPIP, after loading Netbeui no one seems to complain.
The print job never gets to the queue like the pc believes the
connection has dropped. The queue name and share names are the same.
The correct drivers are being used for the printers on the PC.
His configuration:
DECpc's with DE203 cards/Windows 95/Pathworks 1.0a, Vax with VMS
5.5-2/UCX 4.0/Pathworks 5.0d eco3.
Seen sometimes with ADMIN/ANAL is the following error, we are not sure
if this was logged at the same instance of the print job (monitoring):
Event Time: ...timestamp... Node: vmssys
Process Id: xxxxxxxxx
Event: Unexpected System Error Encountered
Event Source: Print Services (PPS)
Event Class: Error
Status: %RMS-E-RNF, record not found
Text: submit (2)
Thanks in advance,
Jerry
