7345.0. "diskquota appliability to pathwork shares" by QCAV01::JAYARAM () Sun Mar 02 1997 05:48

    hello all,

    	We are using VMS 5.5-2 and running pathworks 5.1
    	the VMS diskquota is not applicable when a user
    	copies a file through pathworks share as the
    	security setting was lan manager only.
    	but i changed the security setting to lan manager
    	and open vms security. but still user was able
    	to copy a file to his area inspite of not
    	having diskquota.Am i doing something wrong?
    	what is the way to impose quota restrictions
    	to pathwork users whan they copy files
    	through shares.

    	somebody ,please help on this
    thanks in advance

Hi,

Run Pathworks administrator in VMS (admin/path)
and select "Accounts -> Users" from main menu.

In that zoom on that particular user and select "Paths".

You will see a "User storage Limit". There you can specify
maximum limit in KiloBytes.

    .-1 isn't correct; the option in ADMIN only sends an Alert message, it
    doesn't prevent the user from exceeding the limit.

    To utilize VMS Disk Quotas:

               Problem:

               By default, the file server uses the EXQUOTA privilege,
               which means that quotas on OpenVMS system disk volumes are
               not enforced.

               Solution:

               To disable the EXQUOTA privilege and use disk quotas,
               include the following line in the [LMSRV] section of the
               file PWRK$ROOT:[000000]PWRK.INI (create the section, if
               necessary):

               START_WITH_EXQUOTA=NO

    The security model (LANMAN Only or LANMAN & OpenVMS) is not a factor
    here...
