7324.0. "packet size for file transfere what is it?" by ALFSS2::SOMPAYRACS () Thu Feb 06 1997 15:39

    Hi,

Customer is wanting to know what the default packet size is and is it
written in stone for Pw TCP/IP stack. Says he has the latest which
would be v6. Is it adjustable or is it hardcoded?
Customer states that he is using third party tcpip file transfere
application using our Ip stack and is seeing a packet size of 12k
instead of the standard 3k on files that are bigger that 400k.
I have suggested that he use tcpwinsize and tcpwinseg to adjust the
value. He insists that it is set in stone. Also suggested that he tune
    tcpmaxsock.

    Thanks,

This customer is again raising the issue.

Is there a way to set a maximum size for packets being transferred ?
There is no way to set this from information we have available to us.
We will have to IPMT this call if necessary.
