Setup is as under :- Axp with OSF/1 V3.0, PWKS V5.0, PWKS CLIENT V5.1. Digital Pcs(486) with dos 6.22, with 8mb/16mb RAM. Can someone provide some clue/hints/pointers to resolve these issues. 7323.1 | MAX LINKS set too low? | JAMIN::WASSER | John A. Wasser | Thu Feb 06 1997 14:14 | 13 |
> Indiviually a single user can open - decterm,dxclock,dxtool,decterm > one after the other but when he tries to open the 5th (fifth) > window , he gets an error: UNABLE TO OPEN DISPLAY At one time the default for number of simultaneous DECnet sessions was 8. I think the command to check this is NCP SHOW EXEC MAX LINKS. If it is set to 8 or some other low number, change it to 16, 20, 32 or some other suitably high number with the command NCP DEFINE EXEC MAX LINKS <n>

>> NCP SHOW EXEC MAX LINKS. >> NCP DEFINE EXEC MAX LINKS <n> > We are not using DECnet. It is thru TCP/IP. There is some equivalent operation on PATHWORKS TCP/IP but I don't remember exactly what the operation is. I think there was a file called PWTCP.INI that contained the settings.

pwtcp.ini's the file, tcpmaxsock is the parameter if I remember correctly.
7323.5 | New problem emerged !! | QCAV02::KPREM | Fri Feb 14 1997 05:19 | 11
I did try increasing the tcpmaxsock parameter and it worked fine. But a new problem cropped up now. While I open many sessions windows and If i do not run any application for a while, then the keyboard becomes inactive (not able to enter anything) and slowly one by one the sessions windows start disappearing. Strange isn't it !! See .0 for config details. What cld be the problem here. Unable to simulate this at the office. Tks for your earlier solution... |
