| OK - I'll bite - whazzit ? (And who was/is Morgan Andrews ?)
And which face of Hawkwind - the sci-fi (Quark, Strangeness & Charm) or
schlock Michael Moorcock fantasy (Warrior On The Edge of Time) ? (Hey,
I only have those two).
SLAB - I'll bet you'd like Hawkwind. (Apologies for assuming
that you haven't heard them already, if you have, Shawn).

| Were Hawkwind an early 70's brit art-rock band or is my recolection
of the discussion in MUSIC.NOTE faulty...

| I dunno about the time span... maybe just plain 70's, not necessarily
early. Lemmy (Motorhead) got his start with them, oddly enough.
Brit art rock is right. Emphasis on acid-rock, psychedelia, stage
theatrics.
Was there a discussion in ::MUSIC ? altavista.notes.lkg.dec.com:8000
would find it in a jiff.
So, Lisa - flesh out the details on the inspiration for this stream...

| Flossie and the Unicorns album is the soundtrack to a make believe
puppet show, starring, of course, Flossie and the Unicorns as a rock
band. I think it's one guy with a sampler, a pitch shifter box, too
much time and too many medicinal substances.
Hawkwind is a prog/math rock band. There is a reference to "tap dancing
to Hawkwind".
Lisa/there were a few records packaged with annoying electronic music
boxes that played "Over the Rainbow". Morgan got one of those and
stuck the music box up to the mic and if you tuned to WMBR at that time
you would have heard about three minutes straight of painful
screeching sounding vaguely like the Wizard of Oz.
