695.0. "Question on RTR V3 - frontend, qualifier, facility" by DEKVC::JONGHOLEE () Thu Jun 05 1997 19:15
Hi,
Please see my customer, Boram Securities, environments and inform
me about some questions which were from testing their programs.

(Questions)
Please inform me
1. whether RTR of each frontend will try to re-connect to router,
while 2 transaction routers have failure.
if frontends does that, what re-try frequency is. Also,
whether user can define the interval or not.
2. parameters which I should tune to get the best performance.
Their network transport is TCP/IP by UCX.
3. about default value of each qualifiers to start RTR,
for instance, /WSDEFAULT, etc. Actually, since I could not
find the values in V3 manuals, I made reference to V2 manual.
4. One of parameter, /LINK, for starting RTR was described as
number of nodes to link in V2 manual. I understood this number
as number of nodes that is physically connected and this is
not related to total number of declared facilities by all the
frontend nodes. I thought that 1024 is enough for my customer,
since he has 500 frontends, even if a frontend declares 5
facilities.
Please correct my understanding.
5. My customer has 500 frontend nodes and 5 facilities is defined
for each frontends. It takes about 40 minutes to complete
creating 5 facilities at a router node.
Please inform me why it takes too long and how it can be
reduced.
I am sorry for too many questions and hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,
Jong-Ho Lee.
