641.2VMS V2.2D and RTR WIN95 (TCPIP)DEKVC::KEESANGLEEFri Jan 31 1997 07:2614
    Hello.

    We are suggesting RTR to a New customer(Boram Securities) and
    they nearly decided to use RTR as their Option trading system.
    THey are using Alpha OpenVMS(server),Windos 95(Client) and
    TCP/IP as their network transport.
    Although, I saw that the Alpha OpenVMS RTR v2.2d support TCP/IP
    using RCH.
    I need confirm of the above configuration.
    Please let me know the RTR OpenVMS V2.2D and RTR Win95 using TCP/IP
    transport can be usable.

    thanks.

641.3need DECnet to connect to RTR V2DECALP::KLAVINSEd Klavins, RTR EngineeringWed Feb 05 1997 09:0415

    RTR V2.* only supports DECnet as the transport between FE, TR and BE
    roles. The RCH is an addition to the V2 architecture for enabling Windows
    3.1 (and at one time, Ultrix) hosts to act as RTR V2 clients. The RTR V1.1
    client for Windows 3.1 is not supported on Windows 95.

    So, to connect Windows 95 FEs to RTR V2.2, you'll need to run RTR V3 on
    Windows 95 and use DECnet to connect to the RTR V2 routers.

    (what just came to mind, is the possibility of using DECnet over TCP --
    this should be available in the next Pathworks release for Windows 95.
    Haven't tried this, and don't know if it'll work, or if it's even
    feasible -- just a thought).
