937.0. "VAX 2780/3780 on VAX/VMS 6.2" by HGOVC::CHIKAICHEUNG () Fri Apr 18 1997 00:02

I got a message from an IPMT that VAX2780/3780 PE for VAX/VMS V6.2 will
be available as V1.9, is that true and when will it be available? One
of our customer really need to upgrade to vms 6.2 but got hold up by
this. The following is extracted from the IPMT.

Can anyone answer this or should I need to contact the product manager?

    regards,
    ck

    A solution has been proposed:

This is an invalid escallation. Engineering does not set policy
regarding product futures and rollout. Please close this IPMT.

The Product MAnager, Moshe Roditi, DELNI::RODITI is aware
of the OpenVMS VAX V6.2 issue. Engineering has made the
recommendation that a V1.9 release be authorized to support
V6.2 and drop support for all WAN drivers that are no longer
supported by their engineering organization. Essentially that
means making DECnet+ a required prerequisite.

I have forwarded this note to the product manager Moshe (DELNI::) Roditi. As
soon as I am aware of a firm statement on Vax 6.2 I'll post it here if not
already done. For people reading this note, considering using V 1.9, please
check carefully if your particular device will be supported by the appropriate
driver.
