2260.0. "Pre-sales questions, API?, FILE LOCATOR?" by ASABET::nqsrv526.nqo.dec.com::Craig Blasingame (Lockheed Martin Global Account Team) Tue May 20 1997 14:55

I have a couple of customer pre-sales questions related to SLS.

1) Is there a customer language (probably C or C++) callable interface (API)
to allow a program to get at the functions that are available in the GUI? Are
there DCL interfaces?

2) Can the GUI produce a report detailing file locations within the storage
schema? I.e., if files have been migrated to tape, what files and where are
they?

Finally a third question not related to SLS directly: Does anyone know what
the estimated shelf-life of a DLT tape is?

SLS does not have a GUI. You must be thinking of ABS which does.

>Are there DCL interfaces?

Yes, the STORAGE command.

Again SLS has no GUI, however the CLI command STORAGE REPORT SYSTEM|FILE will
report the information you're looking for.

Approxamitly 15 years with proper environmental control of humidity and
temperature.
