The SLS V2.8A and MDMS V2.8A SSB kits are now available.
Release Summary:
V2.8A Mandatory update which supersedes ECO kit
SLSE02028 and includes:
- SLS/MDMS support for Decnet-Plus (OSI)
- RDF V4.1A which supports Decnet-Plus and
OpenVMS V7.0 and V7.1.
- MDMS V2.8A support for OpenVMS V7.0
and 7.1.
- Full support for Multi-Tower (sometimes called
Multi-Cell) TL82x Libraries.
- SLS V2.8A has *not* been qualified for operation with
OpenVMS 7.0 or 7.1. That support will be provided
in V2.9.
The V2.8A Release Notes describe several bug fixes contained
in this release.

| Hello,
Could somebody please check the kits in the 2.5/2.6/2.7 directories.
I can not copy them and when I do a dir/siz=all ####/0 for the size.
Also are there PAKs available for these kits. This is for internal
use only, but we Canadians can not access VTX PAK (does not except
Canadian cost centres or locations).

For now, yes. I haven't updated the V2.8A doc'n yet for part numbers
and versions. The significant new information is in the release notes in
the FT1 directory for the kits.
I'll announce updated doc'n files when they're ready, but there's no point
in killing too many trees.
BTW: The significant changes in doc'n will include a revised RDF chapter
(I'll ask for specific feedback) and possibly a single SLS/MDMS Installation
Guide. These efforts are aimed at better organizing existing information.

Summary of FT2 features:
V2.9-FT2 All of the V2.8A features plus:

- MDMS and SLS support of DECnet-Plus (OSI)
- Additional bug fixes for SLS and MDMS.
Because of a problem in OpenVMS Version 7.0, SLS will not
support OpenVMS Version 7.0 for either VAX or Alpha systems.
The VMS problem was fixed in V7.1, but there is no equivalent
workaround available for V7.0.
The VMS problem had a serious impact on the technique used by SLS
for error message notification. It was decided this would cause
confusion for SLS users and those who provide remedial support for
SLS customers. Therefore, the installation procedure will not allow
you to install SLS on systems with OpenVMS Version 7.0.
