Grab the sound from the back of the CDROM drive. That's line
out.. Plug that into Line In. If your CD drive has a
sound cable plugged into the card already, then you
should be all set. Then it's a matter of selecting Line In
on your recording software.

2990.3 | Is Cool Edit a Wintel app? | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Wed Apr 16 1997 11:50 | 9 |
| Wow....the blurring of the line between workstations and PC's. :-)
>> Alphastation 500Mhz, fx!32
This isn't exactly a PC in the traditional sense. However as I said,
the lines are blurring these days. :-)
BTW, is Cool Edit 96 an x86 intel-based shareware program?

2990.4 | Yes... | NETCAD::HTINK | | Wed Apr 16 1997 14:07 | 7 |
| Yes, and it's available at www.syntrillium.com
I use it to make all my daughter's (and some friends' :-)) skating
music. I just bought the full featured version for $50, a bargain
at thrice the price.

| If Cool Edit 96 is truly a 32-bit x86 app (meaning FX!32 is the
culprit), TALLIS::FX32 is the place to ask. Probably the first
question they'll ask is whether it works on Intel/NT.

2990.6 | They offer both 16 bit & 32 bit versions... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Wed Apr 16 1997 16:24 | 13 |
| I went to the web site. The minimum system requirements are Windows 3.1
or higher, or Win95, or NT, 4mb ram etc..
If you go further down on their site, you will see that there
are 2 versions to be down-loaded, a version just for Win 3.1x
machines and another version for Win95/NT machines. So there
apparently is a 16 bit version and a 32 bit version.
BTW, I'm impressed with the features this software has.
They offer 2 levels of registration. For $25 you get a Lite
Registration that allows use of some features but not all the
features. For $50 you get full use of all the features.
