2930.0. "BIOS upgrade on Venturis 575e" by DPPSYS::RAEBURN () Mon Feb 24 1997 11:59

Which jumper requires to be changed in order to upgrade the BIOS on
the Venturis 575e? Any notes on the process to follow would be
    appreciated

I believe that the jumper is J32, located just above the floppy device
cable connector. You should only need this jumper if the BIOS that
you're installing also updates the boot block. Look on the MLB for
    information on the jumper.

Boot your system with the diskette created from the BIOS upgarde file
The menu on the screen will give you choices

       1. Make a Crisis Recovery Diskette

       2. Flash Upgrade the System BIOS

       3. Display the CRD README

       4. Print the CRD README to a printer on LPT1

Choice 3. will display and 4. will print the following:

If the Flash upgrade fails, open the system and install

jumper J10, located near the memory simms. Insert the

CRISIS RECOVERY DISK (CRD) and REBOOT.

Note: THE SYSTEM WILL NOT DISPLAY VIDEO.

After about a minute, approximately thirty beeps will sound,

followed by a short pause, then approximately thirty more beeps.
After this sequence, three more beeps will sound. At this point,
power down the system and remove jumper J10 and the CRD.

Power up the system. The system should now be restored to the

system bios that was stored on the CRD. If it is not, repeat this
process. If the system fails to restore again, call customer

        support.

That's all you need to know.

Thanks Sam, Got the new BIOS Installed. You may already know but this
fixed a severe performance problem I had with my PC (only applies to
    Windows95 configs above 8MB)
