    My neighbor has a problem with his PC freezing up. When this happens, a
    beeping sound is emitted from the speaker. At this point the screen is
    frozen including the mouse. Pushing reset is the only solution. I would
    suspect the memory but in that case I would expect to see a blue
    screen. I am also puzzled by the beep code. The system is a Pentium 100
    with Triton-HX, Award BIOS and is running W95. This usually occurs
    after several hours of operation so heat is a possible factor. The CPU
    and power supply fans appear to be okay. Of course it won't do it when
    I am there. Any ideas?

This happens to me when the keyboard plug falls out
(when I step on it). Maybe his keyboard or cable is going
bad.

    Try putting some anti-freeze in the floppy drive door, or tell
    him to bring his PC into the house from the rear deck. :-)

    Seriously, Your neighbor should give some thought to what software, 
    or piece of add-on hardware he may have recently added for a possible
    clue as to what might have brought this problem on.
