Maybe there is a simple answer to this, but I can't find a definitive one. What are the correct interface cables for the standard (Sony/ Panasonic/Mitsumi) cdrom interfaces ? Can you use the standard IDE (or Floppy) cables or do you need something special ? How about the audio cables ? Is there a FAQ on this stuff anywhere ? Thanx in advance Yaacov

Panasonic and Mitsumi are both 40 pin straight through cables, same as IDE. I'm not certain about Sony, But I believe it uses a 34 pin cable and you could use a floppy cable provided the cable has a 34 pin header connector (3.5" floppy style) and you connect before the twist in the cable (i.e. the straight through connector). Audio cables are not that easy. Even different models from the same manufacturer can require different connectors. There are several different connectors used by various sound card manufacturers too. If you have a Computer City local to you, they sell about a half dozen different CD audio cables; several sound card connectors in parallel at one end of the cable and a CDROM manufacturer specific connector on the other.
