337.0. "Flush fails with SHP_INVALID_OFFLINE_INFO/SHP_INVALID_FILE" by BACHUS::VERCAMMEN (You never walk alone...) Tue Apr 29 1997 07:39
Hi there,
We recently associated a new archive class (12) to a shelf (DECPS)
Then we 'Reshelved' everything on the volume by issuing the command:
$ SHELVE/.../SELECT=NOONLINE DECPS:[000000...]*.*.*, to 'reshelve' the
data to the new archive class.
After the 'reshelving' was done, some questions/problems showed up:
1) In the cache, are left some few hundred files, which can't seem to
get flushed anymore.
Everytime a flush is triggered, following error is returned in
the HSM$SHP_ERROR.LOG file: (The error shows up ONLY for the
first file on this serie of files, but neither one of them
is flushed)

Any idea what is causing this error?, and how we can het rid if it?
I've already tried to do a SMU ANALYZE, but there are no errors
detected for this file.
The catalog file information for this file looks like:

Now if you look carefully at the output of the SMU LOCATE /FULL,
another question/weirdness shows up - hence our second question:
2) Why was this file put 3 times on the same tape (CPD020 = tape
belonging to archive class 12)
Shelved on 15-APR-1997 14:33:18.83
Shelved on 16-APR-1997 11:37:06.56
and Shelved on 16-APR-1997 17:03:24.73...???
These files are ONLY used in READONLY mode (never modified), AND the
shelving is always done using explicit $SHELVE commands. (No expiration
date selection algorithm used).
This phenomenon is seen for all the files still in the cache (+- 200).
Thanks and regards,
\Jan
