1796.0. "simple question on stable basic compiler" by CSC32::D_BUTLER () Mon May 05 1997 20:22

My customer is migrating from VAX to Alpha and would like to know
if BASIC 1.2 is a stable platform to use with ACMS 4.1. By this I take them
to mean - does it have any inherent problems - is this a good choice of version-
does this have any alignment problems when interfacing to a product like ACMS.

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

DEC BASIC V1.2 is the latest available version of DEC BASIC
(i.e. BASIC for OpenVMS Alpha). It has a few additional
features over V1.1 plus bug fixes. Not knowing anything
about ACMS I couldn't say if there were any inherent problems
with using DEC BASIC with it. But if they're going to use
DEC BASIC, then they should by all means use V1.2 and not
	some older version.

Many thanks Peter. I checked a local alpha support node and analyzed the
image and sure enough it was 1.2. Thanks for your response..
