5880.0. "Is the DST32 supported by DECnet Phase IV V6.1" by CSC32::MACGREGOR (Colorado: the TRUE mid-west) Tue Apr 08 1997 12:33
I've been unable to prove one way or the other, so if someone can
direct me to some evidence, I'd appreciate it.
I'm trying to determine if DECnet Phase IV on OpenVMS 6.1 VAX supports
the DST32. The SPD does not list it as supported hardware, but then
again it looks like there are several hardware devices not listed in
the SPD. The only ones listed are DEUNA-AA, DELUA, DEBNA, DEBNI, DEMNA
and DEMFA. Whereas the 6.0, 5.4-3 and other SPD's list literally
dozens of supported controllers.
Thanks for any pointers.

5880.1 | Not Looking In The Right SPD... | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Tue Apr 08 1997 14:35 | 23 |

The DST32 was a MicroVAX 2000 synchronous point-to-point interface.
It's supported. And the DST32 and the associated ZSDRIVER are listed
in the recent (V6.1) DECnet manual.
From the DECnet 6.2 SPD:
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Refer to the OpenVMS Operating System Software Product Description
(SPD 25.01.xx) for hardware requirements and processor support.
Reference can be made to the configuration charts listed in the
OpenVMS Operating System SPD. For general device or controller
descriptions, please refer to the Networks and Communications Buyers
Guide.
From the OpenVMS 6.2 SPD:
DST32 Synchronous single-line support for DDCMP up to 9.6
KBPS, full duplex for MicroVAX 2000 systems. Concurrent
use with the DHT32 is not supported.

Thanks Steve, I missed that little pointer.

5880.3 | got to go to phase V | CSC32::R_ABBOTT | | Wed Apr 09 1997 17:10 | 8 |
| Looks like hardware wise it's ok but if you want to use the zsdriver
with vms vax 6.1 you have to move to phase V. The WANDD supported
devices moved into DNOSI for 6.1 vms.
Apparently if using the device with SNA software you may get around
this but this particular customer was not - oh well.
