313.2 | If it didn't steal focus, I would'nt care | SSDEVO::MORGAN | Brad Morgan, DTN 522-3449 | Wed Mar 05 1997 13:10 | 10 |
| What annoys me about the EnvMgr is that is steals focus when it starts
up.
I've decided to edit a mail message reply and suddenly, I'm not typing
my reply anymore.
Since I can't keep it from starting, is there some way to keep it from
stealing focus?

How you invoke LSE ?
If you run LSE which uses the DECwindows screen manager, the DECset Environment
Manager icon would be brought up but not Environment Manager Window. The icon
shouldn't steal the focus.

Just leave the Environment Manager running all the time , then it wouldn't be
brought up when any DECset tool was invoked.

| I'm beginning to see some light...
90% of the time, I envoke LSE from DECwindows MAIL.
I'm displaying on an AlphaStation running NT and Excursion.
The first time I envoke LSE after establishing a session on my local
VMScluster is when the EnvMgr (as an icon) appears and it certianly
steals focus. If I understand you correctly, the icon shouldn't be
stealing focus and perhaps this is an Excursion problem?
You are indead correct, from this point on, I just leave the EnvMgr
running and I don't have a problem anymore.

| Now here's something curious...
On my AlphaStation running NT and Excursion, I start a Session Manager
on two different VMS clusters both running VMS 6.2, DECset 12.1.
On one cluster (A) I start DECwindows LSE and in a second or two, the
EnvMgr icon pops up and graps focus. I kill the DECwindows LSE window and
go to the other cluster (B) and start a DECwindows LSE...NO EnvMgr icon
from that system!
Go back to the original state and reverse the cluster order (start on B)
and the same thing happens.
Shouldn't I be "annoyed" twice (once on each cluster)? :-)

For one display there is only one DECset Environment Manager, so the icon
only bother you once. ;-)
