3276.0. "Winsock 2 beta SDK for Win95 available from Microsoft" by JAMIN::KROBINSON () Fri Apr 25 1997 10:14
For those who can't wait any longer for Winsock 2 DECnet on Windows 95, there is a beta SDK available from
Microsoft. This enables eXcursion over DECnet as well as CTERM in vt320 and PowerTerm.
Here is an install procedure for PATHWORKS 32 7.0 users.
Windows 95 Winsock 2 DECnet install procedure
A beta version of the Microsoft Winsock 2 SDK is available at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/WinSock/winsock2/
You should download the files w95prerc.exe and w95prerc.txt. Unzip the Microsoft Winsock 2 beta according to the
instructions in w95prerc.txt. The setup program is located in \ws2prerc\setup\ws2setup.exe
1) Install PATHWORKS 32
2) Reboot
2) Install the Microsoft Winsock 2 beta by running ws2setup.exe
3) Reboot
4) Run the program \pw32\pws2inst.exe
You can now check to make sure Winsock 2 DECnet has been installed:
1) Run \w95\pwsdk\samples\winsock2\wsaenum\wsaenum.exe
You should see three DECnet entries. For example:
PInfo[15] iAddressFamily = 12 DECnet
PInfo[15] iSocketType = 5
PInfo[15] iProtocol = 1 (00000001)
PInfo[16] iAddressFamily = 12 DECnet
PInfo[16] iSocketType = 1
PInfo[16] iProtocol = 1 (00000001)
PInfo[17] iAddressFamily = 12 DECnet
PInfo[17] iSocketType = 2
PInfo[17] iProtocol = 255 (000000ff)
2) Run \w95\pwsdk\samples\winsock2\dloopst\dloopst.exe
The application should start without errors and wait for an incoming ncp loop. Press return to exit.
