3268.0. "Password woes" by PRIME8::VAUGHN (Mike Vaughn DTN 339-5325) Mon Apr 14 1997 11:51

Hello -

I've been using Xcursion for quite some time with no problems, but
I've managed to get one now. My client system is a Windows NT (alpha) V4.0
workstation. My target systems (the ones I've created accounts for) are
a Unix and a VMS system, using my personal accounts. The problem is that
I can't seem to get Xcursion to accept (and keep) my password information.

When I add a password to a newly created account (or modify an existing one),
the password field is filled in normally with ****s. But at any time, if
I go back to the "accounts" screen, the password field is blank. If I choose
"Run an X Application" and supply the password, all is well. I've enabled
logging, the general error I get is invalid password ("INTERnet ACP AUXS
failure Status = LOGIN-F-INVPWD"). Intrusion records are created on the
host VMS system indicating an invalid password as well.

Under access I've tried disabling access control with no luck, but my
general mode is to have the (tcp/ip) nodes listed. Again, the main problem
seems to be that I can't maintain password information. Any ideas??

Thanks,

mike

What version of eXcursion are you using?

I've seen a few different cases where the account information gets lost
but most of them had to do with Windows and Win32s.

Um. What group(s) does your NT personal account participate in?

My version of Xcursion is 3.0.544

I'm a registered "Domain user" in Digital1. My account has admin privileges
(as Digital1/Vaughn) on my box.

I am having a very similar problem, same versions too and same domain,
do you ever get this one solved? I've tried re-installing and I've
tried removing all accounts and applications, the blank password still
remains. Its doesn't seem to want to save the password info? Anyone
know which file it is stored in?
