3263.0. "Caps lock -> control" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Monte becker) Wed Apr 09 1997 14:27

Hi there,

I tring to get my pc keyboard to look more the key board I'm use
to, which means the cap lock key needs to be changed to a control key. I've
editted the keycap file succesfully, and sure enough, the Caps lock key is
like the control key.... Well, almost...

Where as the control key is "active" only while it is pressed down,
the key-formally-known-as-caps-lock is "active" untill it is pressed a
second time.

Is there a way to avoid this?

		Thanks in advance,

			Monte

Good question. I'm not sure. Perhaps the hardware of the keyboard sends
a key-down when you press the key labeled "ctrl" and sends a key-up when you
release it, whereas the hardware sends a key-down when you press the key
labeled "caps lock", and doesn't send key-up until you press the key again ?

You might ask this question in the sutra::lk450 conference.

I thought there might be a windows app that'd switch them for you, but
I and AltaVista search turned up nothing. I once had a keyboard that
had a switch block that would let you exchange the lock and the ctrl
keys. The key caps even had the alternate labelling on them. It was
    pretty slick.

You could try, but I'm not sure that Marc is even listening in there
anymore. If anyone would know, he would.
