3259.0. "Strange noise when running eXursion" by HGOVC::MICHAELWAN () Tue Apr 08 1997 12:25
I am running eXcursion v.2.1 on my desktop and notebook. I use WIN95
dial-up networking and dial-up to the office. Then I use TCP/IP to
access my UNIX machine. Everything is fine on my desktop. I can run all
Xwindows applications on eXcursion with no problem.
However, when I use my note book PC (NiNote), the speaker gives out
strange noise whenever eXcursion does screen display (any slight
changes). I don't know whether this is the modem's problem or
eXcursion's. The problem never occur with other applications such as
Netscape or Exchange.
On my desktop PC, I am using a Hayes Compatible modem with speed 28800
bps. Everything is fine.
On my notebook PC, I am using a PCMCIA US Robotics Sportster 33600
modem. In this case, eXcursion gives me strange noise. BTW, the
notebook PC has no sound card and I cannot disable the speaker.

| Turn off Maestro in the "Network Monitors" menu off of the eXcursion
icon. Maestro beeps the speaker every time there is X window protocol
activity on the wire.
