3237.0. "WFW and PATHWORKS 32" by GIDDAY::CASEY (No matter who you vote for a politician gets elected) Thu Feb 20 1997 19:16

My customer has decided he's happy with WFW 3.11 for the moment and doesn't wish to upgrade to 95 or NT.

He also wants to run eXcursion. The problem we have is that the only version of eXcursion we now sell comes
bundled with PATHWORKS 32 and that version will only install on 95 or NT.

Have I missed something or am I right in assuming that we nolonger have a solution for this customer?

PATHWORKS 32 is not a solution for WfW users.

eXcursion 2.1 continues to work for WfW users. At some point it was
being decided if Digital would continue to sell 2.1 for a few months
after the PATHWORKS 32 release to accomodate the 3.11 users. However
I do not know what the final decision on that was. If we're to believe
www.businesslink.digital.com, the 2.1 kits are still orderable.

re: .0, .1

There should be an official announcement regarding eXcursion in Sales Update
soon...

The strategy that will be announced/discussed is that we will continue to offer
the V2.1 kit...probably through the end of calendar 1997, for non-Windows95/NT
users. The license that one will need to buy to use this software on your
clients will be the PATHWORKS 32 license, however. What this means is that if
your customer is using DOS, Windows 3.x, or Windows NT 3.5x today, they *can*
still buy an X-server from Digital *and* if they move to Windows 95 or Windows
NT 4.0 and need the eXcursion 3.0 code in a few months, they will already be
licensed to use the new code as well.

All the old V2.1 kits will be retired, and a new, media-&-doc only kit (no
packaged license) will be introduced. The PATHWORKS 32 licenses must be
purchased via a separate line item.
