| For an explanation, (not a solution) see:

Note that the OpenVMS Navigator has an option for working around the
VAXstations. It should work for eXcursion, though I have not tested
it. This has not, to my knowledge, been propagated to the
Unix flavors of the Navigator.

Please make sure you're using one of the latest (v3.0 excursions). If
you get an excursion hang or crash, please report in a qar.
Possible workaround. Go into into excursion control panel and turn off
backing store.

| RE .-1
I'm using excursion T3.0.551.
I've observed that with this version, netscape crashes are very very
few. But with this version, colormap gets screwed up. Many times, I've
to restart netscape due to this problem. I've observed that this
happens if any native window application is modifying the contents of
itw window and at the same time I try to work with netscape.
Problem of transperent gif still remains. I've checked (in control
panel) that Display/Enable backing store option is OFF.

Looking at the webpage (in reply .3), it certainly is a eXcursion
problem.
Is there a solution in sight ??

| If you feel strongly about it, QAR it. See note 10.1.

| I've been working on a particular set of cld's and qars that report
that the colors in excursion on w95 are wrong in 16-bit color mode
but o.k. in 256-color mode.
As of yet (working on this for a few weeks!) I haven't figured out the
problem.
Do your netscape colors look better in 256-color mode on your W95 with
excursion than in 16-bit color mode ?

Mine do.
(But then I'm responsible for helping to write up one (or more) of
those CLD's ;-)

| Has it been elevated? I doubt that anyone is working on it, if it
hasn't been QARed or IPMTed. I haven't done a QAR extract recently (my
last was 26-Feb) but I couldn't find any reference to transparent gifs
in there.

I fixed the 16-bit w95 color problem. The fix will
be available in the TIMA release of pw32.
