2486.0. "CMS corruption" by FORTY2::PULLEN (Julian Pullen) Wed May 14 1997 09:10
We have found a corruption in our main CMS
library. We are running CMS on VMS/VAX V6.1.
We found this problem through trying to verify
the library before moving it to a VMS/Alpha V7.1
We have not found and problems through normal
operations. We have tried restoring the library
from backups, but our earliest version has the same
corruption. The library contains 200 classes with
variants which we need to support our product.

| Hi Julian,
You posted the output of CMS VERIFY. At the risk of asking the obvious,
have you tried CMS VERIFY/REPAIR? A VERIFY/RECOVER might possibly be
helpful as well.
If VERIFY/REPAIR doesn't help, then the library is corrupted beyond
CMS' ability to repair it. Since your backup copies are also corrupted,
probably the best thing to do in this case would be to try the command
procedure posted in note 2323.3 to create a new library from the old
corrupt one. Note 1930.3 also offers some ideas on recovering corrupted
libraries.
If all else fails, we could take a look at the library, if it's
possible to get us a copy.

| Hello Julian,
In responce to your problem in .0, we have an article that we sent to
our clients on how to recover from corrupted libraries. If you would
like a copy of it I can send it to you.
