2478.1 | some questions | EDSDS6::GLEASON | Daryl Gleason, DECset Engineering | Mon Apr 14 1997 11:21 | 12 |
| Hi Jean-Pierre,
Here are some questions that should help us to figure out what
specifically is going on or at least should get us started.
How large is his VIRTUALPAGECNT SYSGEN parameter? It will need to be at
least as large as the page file quota. How big is the delta file itself
in blocks, and how many generations of the element are there? Is the
element a text file or a binary file? If the CMS library is on a
cluster, does this happen from other machines in the cluster?

| Hi Daryl,
The VIRTUALPAGECNT parameter is > 1000000, the library control files are
close to 20000 blocks, the library contains 1112 elements and the
element concerned with the problem has only 2 generations.

| Hi Jean-Pierre,
That VIRTUALPAGECNT looks good. The number of elements in the library
should be irrelevant; we're only concerned with the size and type of
this particular element. Knowing that there are only two generations is
helpful.
What are you calling the "library control files"? If you're referring
to the 01CMS.CMS file, that size should be irrelevant too. What I'm
looking for is the size of the element data file (the delta file) for
this particular element; the delta file will be found in one of the
CMS$xxx subdirectories of the library.
Thanks for the info thus far. We'll still need the answers to the other
questions I asked too.
How feasible would it be to send us a copy of the library so that we
can try it here, should it come to that?
Thanks,
-- Daryl
