3608.0. "question about DEC vendor-specific MIB for SNMP" by CSC32::J_RYER (MCI Mission Critical Support Team) Tue Apr 15 1997 18:13

    I checked the latest DECnis kits, and it appears that the file
    dec_elan_mib.v27_txt is still included in the .a saveset.

    TeMIP V3.1 is shipping a file called dec_elan_mib.v29_txt.

    What's the difference in V27 and V29 of the DEC vendor-specific
    MIB? Can the DECnis code handle whatever things were added
    between V27 and V29? (I'm guessing not, but need official
    confirmation of that for the folks at MCI who are using TeMIP.)

    Thanks,
    Jane Ryer

Jane,
	There are only a few minor changes btween v27 and v29

Change list from v2.7:  {to v2.8}

1. Added new object 'eMACRingLatency' for ring latency, which can be
   used in conjuntion with fddimibMACTokenCts to compute FDDI
   utilization. This object is applicable to all impementations using
   the newer versions of the MAC chip which support this.
   Implementations not supporting it should return noSuchName.

2. Added new enumeration 'rateLimitAndPortMask' to the following objects
   in the bridge address and protocol filtering tables, to allow rate
   limiting and filtering to be applied simultaneously:

   o ebrMultiPortStatus
   o ebrMultiEnetStatus
   o ebrMultiSapStatus
   o ebrMultiSnapStatus

3. Added new optional group 'ebrSpanTurnOff' for Spanning Tree to be
   turned off on a per-port basis on bridges which support this.

Change list from v2.8:  {to v2.9}

The only change from v2.8 is a change to ebrSpanTurnOff to read-write from read-only.

The DECNIS does not support the new additions, but I'd be surprised if anything broke
when using the new (v29) MIB.
