Hi, How are you! I have a customer who has probelms of configuring NIS500 to transfer tcp/ip packets over PSDN to Sun workstations. The following is their connfiguration : ____ | |-->vax7000 | | |____| (load host and x25 client) | | _____|__________________________________________ | | ___|____ | |-->nis500 | | |_______| | 1. one static outgoing ciruit configed |----> for decnet | 2. another circuit configured as X.25 x.25 dynamically routing for tcp/ip. network | | | |_ | | | |_______ sun | workstaion1 Sun workstation2 We configure the above on port 1 of nis500. We can use decnet to sethost to another host though the psdn by the static outgoing circuit.we also trace the packets on the x25 dynamically routing corcuit and prove that the x.25 datalink and physical layer has no probelm. But we couldn't ping from the vax7000 to the sun workstation over x.25 network while the sun stations can communicate with each other over psdn without any probelms while we can ping the nis500 alive. I'd checked the counter of the routing circuit and can't see any packets had ever been put on this circuit. It seems that the ip layer can't communicate with the x.25 layer. Can anyone pls give me any advices ? Thank you very much in advance . Regards! Davy Sun

When you say you have configured an X.25 circuit for dynamically routing IP, I assume you mean a DA circuit. If this is correct have you set up the static IP reachable addresses on the circuit ? Check the routing tables on the DECNIS and make sure it knows how to get to the SUNs. Do the SUNs have a path back to the VAX ? Trace the routing circuit on the DECNIS when you ping the SUN(s). As a matter of interest why are you not using the static circuit for both IP and DECnet ? |
