I copied the dunix kit nianis400-v2.tar over from MARVIN.
I installed it. I did install the 4.1 version first. When I
tried to inst 4.2 it said I needed to deinstall 4.1 so I did.
I installed v4.2 and it installed ok until the end. I go the
following error

It is missing the mcnm_prf files and two x2512 and x2513_prf files.
Is this tar file bad?

The NIANIS400_V2 installation should never have asked you to deinstall the SSB release. The procedure should be to install NIANIS401 and then install the latest fix-kit, currently NIANIS400_V2. I've passed your findings on, and will ensure the next fix-kit doesn't do this. In the meantime you may have to manually edit the installation script to allow the installation to continue.
