Hi, a customer of use has two questions about the ATM capabilities of the DECnis: 1. Are ATM 'Multipoint' Routing Circuits supported ? As far as I can see, at the moment only Point-to-Point circuits are allowed. Any plans to support this in the future ? The DECnis is connected to a GigaSwitch/ATM with serveral Digital UNIX systems in the ATM network. The DECnis should be used as default gateway for the systems in the ATM network and the customer would like to avoid the definition of all ATM Routing Circuits. 2. Is it possible to define the same IP address for all ATM Routing Circuits ? As ATM Circuits are Point-to-Point Routing Circuits I think this could be made by defining NO subnet address, then the DECnis should use the Manual IP Address. Correct ? Many thanks for your help Andreas

Hi Andreas, I assume that what you want is to have a single routing circuit associated with many ATM PVCs to different end-systems. I'm afraid this is not possible, nor is it planned. You are correct in the second point. You can define the neighbour IP address rather than assigning a subnet to the each circuit. I suggest you look at the example ATM scripts, specifically the one relating to classical IP. Please come back if it's not clear from the examples. Mark. |
