3539.0. " 622 and 622/hs same card?" by MKOTS3::LAVERDURE (Ron -What Nodes my Mind On) Thu Feb 13 1997 13:57

Can anyone tell me if the wancontroller 622 and wancontroller 622/hs
are the identical module or not.

I have identified the modules as DNSAB-AA which breaks down to B1302-AA
and the the DNSAB-BA which breaks down to B1302-BA

I have not been able to identify if the base module is inter changeable
between the 622 and 622/hs as the wancontroller 614 and 618 cards are.

I have a distributor hot under the collar demanding to know this.
He has access to our boms and thinks the cards are interchangeable
while I do not believe this is true even though I can not find manuals
or documentation to prove it unless I want to start comparing
components plugged into the 622 and 622/hs cards.

    thanks in advance,

    Ron

They are different - we had a project to respin one of the major ASICs
to contain about four times as much buffering and provide extra
facilities to measure the clocks more accurately and to handle the
FIFOs differently (I can't remember the exact details anymore).

There is a software readable ID that allows the software to tell which
board is which and that is double checked against the ASIC behaviour.

You can use a 622hs in place of a 622 but not visa versa, the 622hs
will run to speeds of 12meg per port, the 622 will only run T1/E1 per
    port.
