3527.0. "decnis<->brouter pb" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Alain carcel) Fri Jan 31 1997 05:04

	hi,

A custemer has pb with a decnis connected to a brouter 90 over chdlc protocol
and a line
64K on w622 module.
The chdlc link count display more invalid crc message received and the
traffic is very slow
and in case the traffic is interrupted
This pb is appeared then the customer has upgraded the decnis in version
3.1-8.
Sawp the module w622 and test the public synchro line (France Telecom), not
resolve this pb.
Downupgrade the decnis in the version 3.1-6, it's OK , the connection is
good.

Resume:
DECNIS (3.1-6) <-> DECBROUTER (9.14-12) no pb
DECNIS (3.1-8) <-> DECBROUTER (9.14-12) invalid crc message received

Question:
1)The version 3.1-8 and 9.14-12 isn't not compatible
2)or upgrade the decbrouter 90 is new soft version 10.X with new hardware
version decbrouter.

3527.1COUNTER problem in V3.1-8 over CHDLCMARVIN::RIGBYNo such thing as an alpha betaFri Jan 31 1997 06:2616
Unfortunately V3.1-8 broke the COUNTERS for CHDLC - the result is that the CRC
error count cannot be believed. Note that this does NOT break the data transfer,
just the reporting of the counters.

V3.1-9, due soon, will have this fixed.

The traffic may be being interrupted but it IS NOT DUE TO THE COUNTER problem.
If the link is perfectly stable with V3.1-6 and never sees 'interrupt'ed traffic
then there must be some other problem of which we are unaware.

Upgrade to the new DECNIS software when it is available but be warned that that
will only fix the counter issue. If there is some other problem for which DECNIS
is responsible it won't be fixed in V3.1-9.

3527.3but what is really the problem>MARVIN::RIGBYNo such thing as an alpha betaTue Feb 04 1997 09:332
If the customer ignores the counter being effectively a random number exactly
what is the observed problem?
