| Cheryl,
just in case you are not aware, you cannot complete your MCSE with
a mix of NT 3.51 and NT 4. You must stick to one or the other.

Cheryl(?),
>> What is the pass mark and how many questions ???
Can't remember the number of questions but the pass mark was 784.
As I remember it the questions were relatively straightforward but
there was a lot of screen handling necessary. I know it was one of the
few tests I have taken where time felt tight.

I did both NT server v4 exams a couple of months ago using only my 3.51
course notes from ~18 months ago as a basis for revision. I would
recommend augmenting this with the Microsoft self paced CD, 'Upgrading
to Windows NT 4.0' and make sure that you are familiar with the new UI.
Also check out the beta exam reviews in http://www.mcpmag.com/members

As .2 suggests, be aware of the differing requirements but don't be put
off going for the v4 certification. I certainly found the v4 server
exams to be both more relevant and less ambiguous than the v3.51 one.
Good luck,
Pete

120.4 | Kirk to Enterprise... | RDGENG::ATTWOOL | | Thu May 01 1997 17:11 | 17 |

The Enterprise exam is a mixed bag exam. I found that it covered
high-level ( generic concepts ) down to specific Domain performance
registry settings.
Plus a couple of questions that had nothing to do with using NT in the
enterprise... e.g. Recovering a incorrect printout. That was a real
stupid question.
Don't be put of with the big long winded questions, save them till
you've answered the short questions.
Yep go for it !!

Passes in: NT 4.0 and 4.0 Enterprise ( No courses taken, but a few
years of implementing/using NT and a lot of reading !)

120.5 | Which Materials to Study? | AKOCOA::sixpak.ako.dec.com::tran | | Wed May 07 1997 19:39 | 21 |
| Hi!
I'm preparing for the NT 4.0 and NT 4.0 Enterprise exams.
(Only two left!)
Does anyone have suggestions on what prep materials I need
for these exams?
I currently am using the NT 4.0 Server Resource Guide and
NT 4.0 Workstation Resource (the Server Guide references
the Workstation Guide on several topics/chapters).
Also, in the Server Kit, there are two other books; one on
IIS and another is the Networking Guide. For those that
have taken the NT 4.0 & Enterprise Exams ... are these
other guides relevant/pertinent to the exam (i.e. should
I read them as well)?
Thanks for any help/advice!

| G'day,
I only did one of the course for NT 4 andthat was the enterprise
server, I don't think this course was all that relevent to the exams.
I did have the core technologies course notes however and found this
valuable

Also read the standard online NT Server books. These provide the
vital information regarding RAS and Netware integration.
Also nice tables for ACLs.
Don't forget Microsoft want to get people away from Netware
therefore expect a few Netware questions. Mainly in the NT 4 srv
exam.
For the Enterprise exams ensure that you understand trusts.
Not just the words used but the effects on performance/security.
