| Dave,
Don't want to throw a spanner in your works. I thought it would be a
simple matter of reading the book and passing the exam, *BUT*, you also
need to read and play with Microsoft Index Server. I have some
documentation I can send you, alternatively you could get it from the
course CD.
Can anyone give us an idea of the type of question we can expect. Is
the self study guide sufficient depth ?
I'm doing the exam soon and have just heard it's got some nasty
questions.

| I did the test yesterday.
To my surprise the test is more difficult than I
expected. Succeeded with a narow margin (733).
I got quite some questions about Index Server, DNS, TCP/IP
subnetting.
Also 1 question where you have to evaluate a solution.
There is an assesment test of BeachFront Quizzer (a demo)
avialable on the web (not good).
And on the CD which comes with the IIS2.0 training kit
there is a test called SmartLabs; but this one
is really a waiste of time (too easy).
As prepration I think reading the manuals for IIS and
Index server is the best you can do.
As a tip I can tell you that I got no questions about
Gopher or WAIS.

| I find it frightning that Microsoft release the self paced training for
the Information Server and not the Index Server.
I think I'll still give the exam a go next week, but if anyone has
documentation pointers and possible exam style questions I'd appreciate
it.

I've been looking very hard for test-exams on IIS, but havn't been
able to find one yet...

| Yes,there is a test for IIS2.0
You can download it from

But as I mentioned it is rather poor e.g. in some sections
(Index Server) there are no questions (?).
The first version I downloaded crashed but this has been
solved now. They did put a newer version on their Web page.

| I took and passed the exam on the 7th March.
I didn't find it all that difficult, but would suggest reading as much
IIS and Index Server Documentation as possible. Also look at the white
papers for DNS. I got tricky questions on SSL and what protection was
required for various ODBC DLL's.
If you read the documentation and set up a site (have a play around)
you should have no real problems.

| Bart,
Self study guides, HTML guide for Index Server, White Papers for DNS.
I also set up a Web page (ftp, gopher and index server too) and messed
about with that until I'd covered most permutations of security
settings.
I still got stuck by some of the ODBC DLL priv questions, but not badly.
If found the help/advice from yourself and a couple of colleagues here at
the CSC to be very valuable.
I got 813 in the end and was very happy with that.
