4393.0. "Upgrade DMHUB 900 problem from V2 to V5" by HGOM19::RICHARDXU () Mon May 05 1997 23:00
Hi!
I am Richard Xu, from NPBU shanghai.
We met a problem when we upgrade one DMHUB 900 firmware from V2.21 to
V5.10, the flash loader of clearVISN can not work, we also cann't find
the download firmware function from DMHUB 900 Management Menu.
I have searched the notes and find when people upgrade the firmware V2,
they use DECndu plus, where can we download this software, and the
version used in a Intel PC as better.
Or, are there any other way to upgrade our DMHUB 900 firmware from V2?
Best Regards,
Richard Xu,

hi,
i don't remember exactly V2 menu, but can you force the Download
from the HUB900 itself ? normally you should find an menu item
like "download new image "

| No. There won't be the "Downline..." option. I once had to upgrade a
V2.1.1 (or similar ;-) MAM and the only way I found to upgrade it was to
use Flashloader after having reset the MAM and/or the module giving the
IP services.
Hope this helps.

| ndu can be found in
netcad::proj$706:[ndu.v3.release.dos.ssb]nduplus.zip
(I found this pointer in note 2.0)
But having said that, I would be surprised if it
did a better job upgrading your v2 hub than flash
loader since they use the same method (TFTP). I'll wait
to hear from you.
The only other way to upgrade the firmware from v2 would
be to force a primitive load of the device by setting
a jumper on the MAM board. This would cause the MAM
to try to load itself using the OBM SLIP port at 9600 bps.
You would also need a tftp client capable of doing a
tftp "put", such as is found in ultrix or Digital Unix.

-Mike
