4373.0. "Rate limit on Vnswitch ?" by HLNET1::JELINK () Wed Apr 23 1997 04:40

Problem setting up Rate limit on Vnswitch EF and EA.

I try to set up rate limit on a Vnswitch EF and EA but without success. After
enabling Rate limit on the switch i cannot add the broadcast address in the
switch. After entering the broadcast address and clicking apply or ok, the
address is not added in the switch so rate limit is also not enabled.

If i try the same action on the EA switch, clicking OK after adding the address
in the switch results in crashing the Multi Chassis Manager.

I'm running MCM V6.0A, EF and EA switch V1.5, hub900 V5.

Message box when trying to add address on the EF switch:

[W] ebrMultiPortAddress not available

Henk.

4373.1Both a VNswitch and MCM ProblemNETCAD::DRAGONWed Apr 23 1997 10:2520

    Henk,

    	There is a problem with the VNswitch FW which has been PTRed.
        The problem is that a GETNEXT cannot be done on
        ebrMultiPortAddress.255.255.255.255.255.255.0 (the broadcast
        address). From what I have seen, it looks like the SET succeeds,
        but you cannot view the results.

        As for the crash using the VNswitch 900EA, all that I can say at
        this point is that this particular MCM view was plagued with
        crash problems in the V6.0A release. These problems have been
        addressed in the next release (V6.1). I was unable to get a crash
        with the latest code base and VNswitch 900EA.

    Regards,
    Bob

    p.s. The VNswitch PTR is 19209.

    Upgrading MCM to X6.1.30 solved the crash problem but i still can'nt
    add the broadcast address to both the EA and EF switch. I solved this
    by adding it with rate limit enabled using the console.

    Regards,

    Henk.
