4357.0. "ATMswitch Management" by SNOFS1::KHOOJEANNIE (Laziness breeds Efficiency) Tue Apr 15 1997 03:12

     Hi all

A couple of queries on the ATMswitches:

     - do these support CSNMP - are they manageable using the hub's IP
address, or are they like the Comet modules?

    - do these have an Ethernet port on the backplane for management
via Ethernet or are they only manageable via ATM? If ATM, does the
ATMswitch's SNMP agent support Classical IP or LANE?

    Thank you
    Jeannie

As with the Comet modules, they support CSNMP only for a few hub citizenship
objects. Most objects can't be managed via the hub. This may be fixed in a
future software release AFTER Version 2.5.

There must be an Ethernet somewhere. The switch does not do Classical IP or
LANE (as a client).

I've seen one, and it connects to the hub's
ThinWire ethernet channel for management.

    Thanks Thomas and Mike

Is it thinwire only, no option for flex channels?

And will there be an Ethernet port on the front bezel, or when
standalone do we use the AUI port on the DEChub ONE for management?

    Thanks

When in a hub, the ethernet management port connects
only to the thinwire. I don't know if it connects
to the AUI port on the docking station.

There is no ethernet on the front panel.

I'm only reporting what I see, I'm not involved
in this product.
