| Can the hardware rev's of both the DEFBA's and DEF1H be
ascertained and posted here, along with the firmware rev's
of the DEFBA's. The hardware rev's are on the stickers with
the serial numbers. The firmware rev of the DEFBA's can be
found from the installation console menu (if you can get access
to it by putting the DEFBA's in a HUB or another docking station).
The hardware rev on the module/docking station enclosure sticker
appears as an alpha-numeric like "A01", or "B01". The hardware rev
that appears on the DEFBA installation console appears as a set of
numbers looking like "HW=x/y where x= Processor board rev and
y=I/O board rev.
There was an old problem back in the summer of 1994 where this
type of problem was seen. The cause of this then was that the
values of some resistor terminations for the Slot ID bits wern't
optimum. The "sticker" hardware rev of these DEFBA's was I think
rev B01. There was an ECO written to change the resistor values
(unit had to be swapped & returned to mfg.). Units being shipped
at that time with this fix had a new rev of C01. The console rev
seen at the time showed a rev for HW=0/1, and the rev for the I/O
board was bumped up to 2 (so HW=0/2 would appear) indicating that
the Slot ID resistor terminations had ben changed.
This problem had no affect on that vintage hardware working in a
HUB, it only showed up when connecting to a DEF1H at that time.
So you may have some old DEFBA's that are of this vintage.
