    Hi,

    When running the extended diagnostics on the DECswitch900EF would one
    expect to see an error log being generated, or only if the diagnostics
    fail.

    Thanks

    Rich

| 4338.1 | Extended Diagnostics write error log only on failure... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | Mon Apr 07 1997 13:24 | 10 | |
| I believe that irregardless if the special extended diagnostics
    are invoked from the console menu, or if as part of the normal
    power up self test diagnostics a test fails an error log will
    normally be generated and written to NVRAM. The extended diagnostics
    are an extension of the normal post diagnostics, and are only invoked
    (as mentioned in the installation manual), if it is suspected that
    there is a backplane connectivity problem. If the extended diagnostics
    pass with no failure, there will be no error log recorded in NVRAM.

    Bob
