Hi,
Customer has a Decswitch 900FO that came with firmware V1.2 and is recognized
when installed in the Dechub 900 with manager module V4.1 .
But the Hubwatch V4.1.1 didn't recognize the 900FO ( ? appears).
Could someone please tell me what version need to be used in the
decswitch 900FO so that it can be recognized by Hubwatch V4.1.1 ?
Hubwatch 4.1.1 firmware kit doesn't contain the DEFBBxxx.BIN file to
upgrade 900FO.

My vague recollection, when I was working on the DEFBB project,
was that HUBwatch didn't support the DEFBB ligo, but that MCM
(MultiChassis Manager would). I couldn't locate a copy of the
DEFBB release notes associated with a firmware rev of V1.2, but
did locate DEFBB release notes for an April 1996 V1.1 release
of the DEFBB firmware, and release notes for an August V1.7 release
of the DEFBB firmware. In August 1996 there was a major rev firmware
release for all DECswitch modules, and I think the DEFBB firmware
rev was just bumped up to V1.7.0 to make it coincide with the other
DECswitch releases of V1.7.0. So the V1.2 had to have occured
some time between April and August, as an interim release.
The April 1996 V1.1 release notes I have a copy of specify using a
rev of clearVISN MultiChassis Manager V5.0 to manage the DEFBB.
So it would appear that your customer will have to upgrade from
HUBwatch to clearVISN MultiChassis Manager V5.0 to manage his DEFBB.
If they are going to upgrade at this time, they might as well upgrade
to the newer rev of V1.7.0 for the DEFBB and upgrade to the most
recent rev of clearVISN, and of course they will have to upgrade
the MAM firmware too to be consistent.
Someone from the clearVISN group should be able to substantiate this.

Bob is correct, you will need MCM v5.0 or later in order to manage the DECswitch 900FO. Using MCM v6.0a would be even better, as that is the most up-to-date version. Carl Mower | |||||
