| They can change the community string remotely using DECmcc or another
browser-capable network management station. They must set the
object:
pcomSnmpAuthReadWriteCommunity for the read-write community,
pcomSnmpAuthReadOnlyCommunity for the read-only community,
pcomSnmpAuthTrapCommunity for the trap community.
In addition, they can tie management to a group of management stations
by specifying IP addresses in:
pcomSnmpAuthReadWriteUserTable and
pcomSnmpAuthReadOnlyUserTable.
These objects are in the "dec-hub900-common-mib-vx-x.txt" (aka "public
common MIB", aka "pcom MIB") which can be found on:
http://npbwww.hpn.lkg.dec.com:80/dr/hubs/mibs/index.html

| Are we going to provide that in the CLEARvisn application?
Right now, the answer that you've just given us is "go fish"...that is,
go figure out how to do it as opposed to providing a simple
functionalitly for a customer.
We lost all remote hubs at RPS (Roadway Package System) because we
could not:
- Assign IP addresses
- Change community strings
- Get IP addresses of modules
With OUR management applications.
THEY did *NOT* want to hear - "go figure it out"....they're going with
Cabletron/cisco.
