I'm using PROBEwatch to manage a DECswitch 900EF equipped with FW V1.7.0R (full RMON) The default max hosts of this module is 128..... How can I increment this value? Is there any way to connect to the console like the DECpacketprobe? Regard Francesco

128 is the max. There is no way to increase this. Because of the limited memory resources, the max values are not configurable. Chris

Chris, many thanks. It will be more difficut for me, now, to enphasis the DECswitch900-xx with full RMON support. Regards Francesco

Just out of curiosity, what are you hearing from your customer/s in regard to expectations of RMON support in their network. A node limit of 128 isn't totally out of wack with what the competition offers I believe. Also a normal deploy of RMON support would involve strategic placement of several RMON probes such as the DECswitch in an extended LAN, and not relying on a single RMON probe presumably placed in the "center of the LAN" someplace in the hopes of capturing all. 4284.4 | RMON agent contains the whole nodes of the LAN | ROM01::GALLANA | Francesco Gallana | Wed Apr 02 1997 09:29 | 14 |
Bob, You are not wrong, in fact, the customer has created some LANs, each of them has about 180 nodes... The fact is that the RMON agent within the DECswitch 900EF contains the whole list of nodes (sorry, only 128...); the bad thing is that enquiring the Host list many times, you get different lists, not always the "top 128" This is what.
