4249.0. "AGL-2+ PMD's not displayed correctly in MCM" by CHEFS::PADDICK (Michael Paddick - BRS Bristol, UK) Tue Mar 04 1997 09:10

    Does anybody recognise this problem?

    Customer has GIGAswitch/FDDI's with AGL-2+ cards and is running
    the current version of MCM.

    When the front panel is displayed, the AGL PMD's are displayed as
    grey boxes, and double click on the module just brings up the
    GIGAswitch summary window, so no port specific information, PMD LED's
    or management facilities available.

    I set MCM to poll every 30 seconds, and something strange happened.
    Every time the GIGA was polled, there was a brief period where the
    AGL PMD's looked correct. However, this state didn't last long enough
    for me to get any use out of it.

    I've got version X5.0.17 running on my lap top, and the same situation
    exists.

    Any information would be very welcome.

4249.1Improved for MCM V6.0NETCAD::DRAGONThu Mar 13 1997 08:3312

    Hi,

    	These problems should be corrected in the clearVISN V1.1A/MCM V6.0
        version. Please note that the AGL-2+ linecard does not have a
        linecard specific view associated with it, so that the System
        Summary View will display when the linecard is clicked on. There
        is a VCC Modification and SONET Counters View which are available
        by placing the mouse cursor over an AGL-2+ port and pressing MB3.

    Regards,
    Bob
4249.2Is MB3 valid under V5?CHEFS::PADDICKMichael Paddick - BRS Bristol, UKFri Mar 14 1997 12:0618
    Bob,

    Thanks for the info,

    Can I just clarify...

    Is mouse button-3 valid under MCM-V5 for VCC modification, or is that
    part of V6? If it is there now, how was I supposed to know?!

    Do you know what the situation will be regarding upgrading an existing
    customer to V6? Will he have to pay for an upgrade? It seems unfair if
    V5 has this 'bug'.

    Thank ewe,

    Meic.

4249.3New in V6.0ANETCAD::DRAGONThu Mar 20 1997 09:079

    Meic,

    	This functionality is new to MCM V6.0A. The use of MB3 should be
        documented with the documentation that goes with clearVISN V1.1A.
        I'm not sure what the official upgrade strategy is for an un-satisfied
        customer. Perhaps someone else could shed some light on that one.
