Hi all. Problem with DECserver90 TL which has new MAC address ? DECserver90 TL keeps re-booting every 10-15 mini. without any load. Crash code were 002,003,or 00D, and this server was brand new one. Replaced with digital spear but same thing happened. I tried another spear but no diffence. All 3 server have new MAC address, and finaly I replaced DECserver90 with old MAC address it's working fine on same DEChub900. Tested 2 spears with another DEChub900 running v4.2 backplane . Customer's DEChub is running with 4.11. Is there any problem? Thanks, Atsushi Hasegawa MCS Sydney

RE: .0 Sounds like the DECservers are being loaded with an inappropriate image. It is possible that a BOOTP server is delivering the image based on a registered MAC address, and the default image for unknown MAC addresses is the wrong one. A console log (from port 1) during boot would be helpful. Regards, Dave | |||||

Atsushi, I had the same problem with a batch of DS90TL with 00-00-F8 address prefix. One of the units have been sent to terminal server engineering for investigation. These units were booting from mop and not bootp. Frequency of crashes varies from 1/2 hr to days. Andrew |
